How To Secure Your Apple Device Using The iPhone Kill Switch (Activation Lock)
iphone 6 and 6 plus are both two of the most gorgeous gadgets out there in terms of premium build with its aluminum body and firm grip it is truly a unique phone to behold.
However it comes with a price. The constant theft of apple products made the Cupertino based company to come up with an idea of reducing the amount of theft that faces the owners of apple products.
This is called the “kill switch” (Activation Lock)
The kill switch enables the apple product iphone, ipod and ipad to be permanently locked with the impending thief not being able to unlock it.
How do we then activate this feature on your phone?
Set up “FIND MY PHONE”- Go to settings>iCloud>Sign in with Apple ID>Find my phone
When this is done, your phone is activated to be found in case it is ever stolen or misplaced.
To enable LOST mode kindly log into the icloud.com/find from any PC of your choice.
In most cases if in luck you get to see on a map where your phone is located even though it does not guarantee you getting your phone back.
The options you are opened to includes being able to display a phone number or message on the lock screen while remotely also wiping the device if you wish.
Once the lost mode is activated then who ever steals the phone will be required to input your apple ID before anything can be done on the phone.
To enable your activation mode to work seamlessly you need to activate it and use a password that is not being used elsewhere on the internet, which will make it uneasy for people to guess.
And lastly all smart phone users should enable a passcode on their phone; this provides an extra security for their phones when it is stolen.
This security feature works wonders in the USA by reducing the rate of iphone theft to the barest minimum.
The thieves found out the hard way which is what is the point of stealing a phone that you can’t use.
